As Alūksniems.lv reports, the children are very happy about the new bus and the bus driver Normunds Ziņgis, a driver with thirty years of experience, also appreciates it. At the moment, the electric bus is being operated in test mode, and probably only after the first school year, when the first winter of Alūksne will be on the road, will it be possible to give the true opinion.
New and comfortable
The new emission-free electric bus "Electrify 910", unlike previous buses, does not have a manual gearbox, which makes driving easier for the driver. It's also significantly quieter.
The cabin has pleasant comfort, comfortable seats for both passengers and the driver. The electric bus is completely new, modern, and that says it all.
bus driver Normunds Ziņgis tells Alūsnieus.lv
Vehicle parking is provided at the Alsviķi public house, where a charging station with the possibility of fast and slow charging has been built. At the end of the morning trip, the bus is charged to go back to school to pick up the children in the afternoon.
The first in Latvia
Alūksne district municipality is the first in Latvia to start using electric buses for school transport. In the project, it is planned to purchase another such means of transport for transporting students from the parishes to the city, which the municipality will soon receive.
The municipality of Alūksne district purchased the electric bus in the project "Purchase of electric buses for promoting the mobility of students and ensuring the accessibility of the school network in Alūksne district". The aim of the project is to improve the implementation of the functions of the municipality of Alūksne region and the services provided by improving the mobility of learners and the reach of the network of educational institutions, by purchasing a zero-emission vehicle for the transport of learners in the region, thereby promoting the greening of public sector transport. The total cost of the project is 612 euros, of which 508 euros are financed by the Rehabilitation Fund, 507 euros are co-financed by the municipality.
