Support programs increase state support for the purchase of a used electric car and a new hybrid car, as well as now available special support for families with many children.
On Tuesday, the government supported the improved support program of the Ministry of Climate and Energy (KEM) for the purchase of electric cars and externally charged hybrid cars.
KEM states that the data of the survey conducted in the summer of 2023 on the promotion of electromobility in large families show that large families are very interested in buying an electric car or a hybrid car. Among them, 54% of respondents stated that they would gladly buy such a car if there was additional support within the existing support program, while 63% of respondents were interested in support for vehicles with at least seven seats.
There will be support for large families for the purchase of a five-seater electric car and a new hybrid car that can be charged externally 6750 euros, but for a five-seater used electric car - 5000 euros.
If the family is interested in buying a seven-seater car, the support will be higher, taking into account that the price of seven-seater cars on the market is on average 30% higher. Accordingly, a new seven-seater electric car and a new externally charging hybrid car will receive support 9000 euros, but for a seven-seat used electric car - 6750 euros.
In order for a representative of a large family to receive support, a Latvian Honorary Family Certificate is also required. Support will also be provided to foster families or families with many children, where the children live in the family under guardianship and also if the family has an adult person up to 24 years of age (not included), who obtains general, professional or higher education or performs 11 months of national defense service.
Residents who are interested in buying an environmentally friendly car will be able to buy it with a larger amount of state support. The state support for a used electric car is increased by 1100 euros (from 2250 euros to 3350 euros), on the other hand, if residents are interested in buying a new externally charged hybrid car, its support is doubled (from 2250 euros to 4500 euros).
In addition, if the resident is interested in writing off his old vehicle, which runs on gasoline, diesel or gas, by handing it over to a processing company, he will be able to receive 2000 euros large "bonus", which was previously 1000 euros. "Bonus" applies to all residents, including large families who intend to buy an environmentally friendly car.
KEM points out that if the resident has chosen his electric car, which is currently not available in Latvia, the resident has the opportunity to conclude a contract by agreeing with the car dealer on the availability and purchase of the chosen electric car. If in this situation the resident has chosen to write off his old internal combustion engine car, KEM recommends doing so when the electric car has already been delivered and registered in Latvia.
When writing off his old car with an internal combustion engine, the resident receives a vehicle liquidation certificate "on hand", which he submits to the car dealer together with the application for support. The process, while the documents are being reviewed, until the moment when the electric car can be used, takes about a week.
The support program is available to residents from March 2022. KEM states that there are 1897 electric cars and hybrid cars on the roads of Latvia, which were purchased (co-financed) in the amount of 7,5 million euros in the amount of 24,3 million Euros. They are XNUMX% of the total number of electric cars in Latvia.
How does the bonus for handing over the car work? It turns out that the state will pay 2000 euros for any piece of junk, or is it only in case a new electric car is bought instead?
This support is available when buying a new or used electric car. But the baggage must also be in accordance with the rules described https://ekii.lv/index.php?page=auto-iegade-2
Hi, it doesn't say from which date this support is actually available?
This information is not yet available in the public space, but it will certainly be by autumn. In the meantime, we can actively follow the changes on the EKII page https://ekii.lv/index.php?page=auto-iegade-2
