One of the largest retail chains in Latvia, Mego, and energy solutions provider Ignitis have signed an agreement to deploy high-power charging stations at 13 Mego stores.

The project envisages the installation of 44 high-power charging points for electric vehicles at 13 strategically important Mego store locations – in Riga (6 addresses), as well as in Jurmala, Iecava, Carnikava, Cesis, Brocēni, Daugavpils and Jēkabpils. The contract for the implementation of the project was signed at the end of last year and all charging stations are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2026, ensuring fast and efficient charging for both private and commercial vehicles.

Mego's sustainable development strategy aims to reduce its environmental impact. The importance of electromobility has grown significantly in recent years, and more and more drivers are switching to environmentally friendly vehicles. We also see this among our customers, who are increasingly moving in electric vehicles, so this project will help meet the needs of these customers as well.

“Mego” Marketing Manager Alexander Afanasyev

The charging stations will have a capacity starting from 200 kW and will be able to charge a car battery to 80% in 15–20 minutes, depending on the car model. This project will give Mego customers the opportunity to conveniently and quickly charge their electric cars while shopping, while making a significant contribution to the development of sustainability and electromobility in Latvia, as well as reducing carbon emissions.
